Hamlet: A Memory Play

With the dead Hamlet lying on the floor beside him, Horatio turns to the audience and begins to tell his story. How does he begin? what can he remember? In this unique version of the classic play Horatio recounts the journey of his best friend’s grief, desire, revenge, and how this final scene of blood and destruction came to be.

Owen and Ben first worked together in London at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Since then Ben has worked extensively in film with credits including Pride, Goat, Warcraft and Xavier Nolan’s upcoming film The Death and Life of John F. Donovan.

The project started with a mutual desire to work together on Shakespeare and has turned into a full investigation of a play that has intrigued and inspired theatre makers and audiences for centuries. We have approached the play in the great American theatrical tradition of a Memory Play. Told through a non-linear structure as to mirror the experience of human memory this well-known story will be seen in an entirely new light.
